Quarters

Each part and district of the city has its own interesting past. The division of the city areas by Leistgrenzen was selected because the Quartierleiste ensure a high level of identification with the district and gives the resident population and local companies the chance to actively contribute to the development of “their” neighbourhood.

The Quartierleiste are associations according to Article 60-79 of the Civil Code (ZGB), and are based in Thun. They are politically and denominationally neutral, and have the following aims:

• To represent the interests of the Leiste residents with regard to the authorities.
• To promote local, cultural and charitable affairs.
• To ensure the provisions of the building legislation in the district, in particular with regard to traffic planning and preservation of the townscape.
• To promote and maintain the stand of living and the quality of life.
