Gwatt-Schoren-Buchholz
The Leistgebiet Gwatt-Schoren-Buchholz includes the three former villages of the same name, whose village boundaries are no longer visible. There are around 3,300 residents in the whole Leistgebiet.
From the 1960’s onwards, it was mainly apartment blocks that were built around the Gwattstrasse, while detached houses were mostly built further up, on the Strättlighügel. The Bonstetten Park, the Music School Region Thun in the Bellerive castle, the marina and Camping site and the Gwattlischenmoos nature reserve are the distinctive cornerstones of the district. The industrial area in the former Gwattmoos area and in the Rösslimatte houses various Thun companies.
Schoren was once the centre of the former municipality of Strättligen, which is why some of the last, typical Strättliger farmhouses (Tätschhäuser) can be found here. A new industrial area has arisen in recent times on the C.F.L. Lohnerstrasse, on the city side of Schoren, in which a number of major commercial companies have established themselves.
The centre of the former hamlet of Buchholz lies to the west of Schoren, close to the Burgerwald Wood. Thanks to the farmhouses that have been preserved there, the centre has largely retained its rural character.
