Hohmad

Before the construction of the motorway, the Frutigenstrasse was the main traffic artery to the Oberland, and began to develop into a residential district from 1930 onwards. Detached houses and apartment blocks from different architectural eras characterise the neighbourhood. The Hohmad district is home to around 3,700 persons.

The district has very good traffic connections. The proximity to the city and the wide variety of shops in the district itself is greatly appreciated by the residents. Local landmarks include the retirement home on the Martinstrasse, the Klinik Hohmad and the Homadpark complex.

The latter was completed in the autumn of 2008 and has made its mark on today’s urban part of the district. It consists of around 300 apartments and commercial premises, with shops, offices and service companies.
