Bonstetten Park
The Bonstetten estate in Thun / Gwatt is a former manor of the lords of Strättligen. A Rudolf von Strättligen was mentioned as the owner in a document from 1273. Emanuel Fischer has the essential core of today’s “Campagne" with the extensive gardens laid out between 1763 and 1811. The "Bellerive" country house dates from 1764, and the estate has belonged to the Canton of Bern and the City of Thun since 1960. The Musikschule Region Thun is now located in the "Bellerive”.
Popular recreation area:
The Bonstetten park is open to the public and offers a valuable recreation area directly on the shores of the lake all the year round: barbecue areas, open meadows and a children’s playground also make the park attractive for families.
A grove of trees, a number of avenues and the nearby nature reserve of Gwattlischenmoos provide the opportunity to take a long stroll.
How to get there: Bus No. 1 from the SBB railway station to the “Camping” or “Bonstettenpark” stop.
