Parks

This spacious park is situated on the shores of Lake Thun and is not only a wonderful green space to relax and enjoy the wonderful views of the lake and mountains, it is also culturally significant.  For example, in Schadau Castle, one of the most beautiful castles from the Romantic era, the Swiss Gastronomy Museum is housed.

In this lovely park in front of what is today a Music School, people wander with their children and their dogs and take time to relax and enjoy the fresh air.  The surrounding mountains, the lake and the rare trees in the park give a real feeling of being close to nature.

A small worldly paradise at the entrance to the Bernese Oberland and a terribly unhappy person:  this combination came to be when in 1802 Heinrich von Kleist took this island which later came to be known as Kleist-Inseli (Kleist Island).  Today it is a wonderful green space not far from Thun railway station and is a popular place for both locals and guests to linger.
