Schadau Castle
Schadau Castle stands in a wonderful english style park on the south bank outlet of the River Aare. The proud castle is home to the restaurant ’Arts’ and the
Swiss Gastronomy Museum. The house was built by banker Denis de Rougement and features both Romantic and New Gothic styles. It has belonged to the city of Thun since 1925.
The
restaurant Arts’ boasts cuisine of the highest quality and is also an ideal place for anyone out for a stroll who requires a little refreshment.
In the Schadau park is the Scherzlingen Church and the Wocher Panorama with its spectacular circular painting by Marquard Wocher from 1814. It is the oldest preserved circular paining in the world and is a representation of the city of Thun in 1810.Stadt Thun um 1810.
