Schadau Castle
Schadau castle was built from 1846 - 1854 for the Neuchâtel banker Denis Alfred de Rougemont according to the plans of Pierre-Charles Dusillon. Its attractive position, directly on the south bank of the Aare River, is still enchanting today.
Das Bauwerk has Romantic and Neo-gothic elements and is surrounded by an extensive English park, into which the Thun Panorama and the Scherzlig Church are integrated.
Schadau Castle now houses the "Restaurant Arts" gourmet restaurant and the Swiss Gastronomy Museum, as well as the marriage hall of the Oberland West District Registry Office.
