Schwäbisturm Tower

The Schwäbisturm Tower, once also know as the "Lochturm", was built in the first expansion of the city by the Kyburgs in around 1250, in order to protect the Schwäbis Gate and the access to the Aare.
The Schwäbisturm was originally an square prism open towards the city, with battlements, and was later fitted with a pointed spire. the building was partly demolished and converted in 1844.
The original brickwork was exposed once again in 1970 and was reconstructed on the basis of the remaining walls and old pictures.
